Nikolay Rubenovich Gulkarov, born in 1947, the youngest son of Ruben and Tamara Gulkarov. He began his career at the age of 16 as an electrical installer and worked until he entered the Physics and Mathematics Faculty of the TashPed Institute in 1964. From the second year he transferred to the evening faculty and got a job, first as a laboratory assistant, and then as a physics teacher in a high school in 1966.
In 1970, through a competition, he was enrolled as an assistant in the Physics department at the Tashkent Polytechnic Institute. In the same year, a deputy was appointed. Dean at the preparatory department of the institute. In 1972 he was transferred to the newly formed Tashkent Automobile and Highway Institute to the Department of Physics. In 1975, after defending his dissertation for the academic degree of Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, he was transferred to senior lecturer, and since 1977, associate professor of the Department of Physics. Since 1988, he has headed the department of Pedagogy and Engineering Psychology. For excellent success in work in the field of higher education of the USSR, he was awarded the “Excellent Student of the Higher School” badge.
In 1977 he married Faina Aminova. Has 3 children and 7 grandchildren.
In 1990 he emigrated to the USA and lives in the city of San Diego. In San Diego he was engaged in various activities, did not work in his specialty, and is currently retired.
